Why bother to take volley in a prep build?

One skill doesn't make the build a prep build. That's like calling my warriors build a res signet build. He just threw out 4 skills that could allow for some flexibility.

prep build as in build with a prep...

Volley strips RtW and so lowers the DPS of the build so it seems a very strange skill to use when there are plenty of other straight bow attacks that will do much better...was my point

The highest single target DPS you can achieve on a ranger is probably by combining Glass Arrows, Conjure X, Triple Shot, Dual Shot, Zojun's Shot, and Point Blank Shot.
